Riverview Park and Zoo has proudly operated as a department of Peterborough Utilities Commission (PUC) since 1933.
Riverview Park and Zoo Staff
A small dedicated team of 10 full time professionals operate the park and zoo 365 days a year with support from part-time student zoo keepers and public educators.

Summer Students
Each season we hire 18 returning post-secondary summer students for animal care, grounds maintenance, train operation, horticulture and public education from April to September. Advisory Committee
The Riverview Park and Zoo Advisory Committee makes recommendations to the PUC on matters concerning the Park and Zoo. Made up of one member of the PUC, four City of Peterborough electors, one honorary lifetime member, the PUC President and the Park and Zoo Curator.
Education Committee
The committee advises the Park and Zoo staff on the educational plan and programs. The committee consists of the Park and Zoo Program Supervisor and four volunteer representatives from the Peterborough Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, Trent University's Education Program and partner organizations in conservation such as the Ontario Turtle Conservation Centre.
Animal Health and Wellness Committee
The committee advises and makes recommendations on the animal health and wellness plan and programs and consists of the Park and Zoo Supervisor, Veterinarian, Veterinarian Technician and volunteers from the Kawartha Veterinarian Association and Canada's Accredited Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA) facilities.
Enrichment and Training Committee
The committee advises and makes recommendations on the enrichment and training plan and program and consists of the Park and Zoo Supervisor, Program Supervisor, two members of the Park and Zoo Animal Care Team and two volunteers from the community.
Volunteers
An essential part of our team, volunteers helps to run our Zoo Crew parent tot programs, sit on our committees and advisories, act as education ambassadors who run touch-tables and the seasonal exhibit, and help to host special and signature events that bring the community together. We have over 50 dedicated volunteers who ensure we run a world class facility.
