Come Hang Out with our New Sloths
On your next visit to Riverview Park and Zoo, be sure to stop by and say hi to our new two-toed sloths who join us from Little Ray's Reptile Zoo and Nature Centre.
Currently you can see Lambo hanging out, while Cloud remains in quarantine a little longer until she can be safely introduced. Their exhibit has been given a fresh new look and is found in the Primate Building next to our squirrel monkeys. Given sloths can spend up to 15-20 hours a day sleeping, chances are you'll find them either resting high up in a corner or curled up inside their hanging blue bucket.
Here at the zoo, we feed them a diet consisting of apples, pears, banana, broccoli, carrots celery, leaf eater biscuit, romaine lettuce, spinach, yam, melons, and figs. We also provide nuts such as almonds, flax seeds, peanuts, pumpkin seeds and walnuts as well as fresh greens like parsley, herbs, cabbage and dandelions. Did you know sloths can delay going to the bathroom for up to one whole week?
